MARRYING THE FUTURE
Huis van de Toekomst BoTu
On 5 July, we had great fun holding our summer party at Huis van de Toekomst (House of the Future). An Agora which focused on the marriage of the future. Imagine saying "yes" to the future. What do you take with you, what do you leave behind and what would you like to add? We asked participants this question.
During my internship, I made a felt wedding box together with residents from Botu. We presented this during a summer celebration. Together, we shared our ideas around marriage with the future and literally filled the marriage box. Love, family, respect, freedom, music, dance and rituals we will take with us and (social) obligations, cliches, musts, consuum, wealth and waste we leave behind. And what would we want to add? Annual rituals, celebrations around marriage, dancing together, loyalty, sustainability, self-reliance, a bicycle, fire and play we add. These are some examples that were mentioned.
In the future, Huis van de Toekomst wants to determine the annual calendar together around celebrations and further shape marriage on manpower.
In the House of the Future (Huis van de Toekomst): BoTu on Manpower, we practice living together without gas or petrol. *BoTu = Bospolder-Tussendijken. This Rotterdam working-class neighbourhood will go off gas by 2030.
